ALLOWANCE TIMING

The new SecurePark Mobile App also has a new function called Allowance Timing. Allowance Timing is essentially the same as Tire Chalking; depending on the rules set on a location, the SecurePark app can create a timing for the specified length. When the timing has expired but the vehicle remains on the lot, the app knows that the plate is in violation and will direct the enforcement officer to issue a violation.

To set Allowance Timing, an admin first needs to set it on the location by logging into the web app and navigating to the Location settings.

Under Advanced, enable LPR Tire Chalking. Enter the Allowance Time (in minutes), which is the allowed length of time a vehicle is allowed to park at the location. Then, enter the reset time (in hours), which is the length of time after the vehicle was first scanned that it would would be eligible to park again.

Now, enforcement officers will be able to create timings with LPR or manually through the app.

For manual timings, open the location and search a plate. If the plate does not show up in the app as an active session, it may be eligible for a timing. You can hit Submit Allowance to either create a timing, or if the plate has already had a timing submitted within the reset time, you will be taken to the Plate Details screen indicating the plate is in violation.

LPR ALLOWANCE TIMING

Allowance timing works the same in LPR enforcement, but it's done automatically.

To open LPR, click Launch Scanner. Hold the camera up to a license plate to scan. If the plate has not been previously scanned, a session will automatically be created for the specified time. If the plate has already had one scan within the reset time set, or, if you are simply scanning a location without Allowance Timing set and a plate does not have a valid session, you will be taken to the Plate Details screen to issue a violation.

If the vehicle is still active, the alert at the top of the screen will show the plate as "Whitelisted".

LPR REGION

To set specific LPR functions, exit the scanner screen by hitting Back on your device. On the main screen of the app, click on Settings, then LPR.

You can select a specific region for the scanner if your device is having issues reading plates correctly.

LPR CONFIDENCE

You can also change the confidence level. The confidence level is designed to limit the number of plates that are prompted for confirmation, based on how confident the scanner is that the plate is read correctly.

Let's say we set the confidence level to 98%. This means that, if the LPR scans a plate and it decides that it is 99% certain that the plate was read correctly, you will not be prompted to confirm the plate. However, if the scanner is 97% or less certain that the plate was read incorrectly, you will be prompted to confirm the plate:

You can adjust the LPR confidence level based on how often you find you're being prompted to confirm.

LPR SETTINGS

The remaining LPR settings are simple. Light on Dark is a setting specifically for regions that include a lot of license plates with dark backgrounds and light characters.

The Show Torch function gives you the option to enable your device's flashlight when scanning.

The Resize Focus Box gives you a box in the scanner that you can resize and fit, instead of making the entire camera view the scanner.
