The grace period is a new feature that gives patrollers the ability to see when a validation has expired at a specific location, or lot. The Grace period is managed at the location-level in SecurePark, and can be adjusted or removed at any time.

Use Case: The owners of Alfredo's Pizza Cafe know that service can be slow on busy days, and so they have decided to allow visitors a 15-minute leeway. Before the Grace Period was enabled, a validation that had expired would be immediately out of the system and the visitor could be invoiced within a few seconds of the validation expiring. Adding 15 minutes to the Grace Period allowed patrollers to see when a specific license plate expired within those 15 minutes, thereby reducing violations issued shortly after an expired validation.

Step 1

In the SecurePark web console, head over to Settings -> Violation -> Locations. Choose the location you will be adding the grace period to, and click on Edit

Step 2

Under location settings and under the Grace Period (in minutes) field, enter in the number of minutes you require expired validations to still show on the mobile app, then hit Save.

Step 3

Now, validations expired within the last 15 minutes will show up as being expired in bold red letters, and will include the date and time they expired (see below for an example). Patrollers are still able to issue violations, but can do so at their own discretion.
